Yesterday I made a last minute attempt to get to the beach by sunset.  I just felt like sitting on the sand and watching the sunset, but that was not in the greater plan.  As we were driving out to the beach, we were just about 7 miles away, the police shut the road down and made us all turn around.  Initially, we (my children and I) were all pretty upset, but the detour proved to be a good one.  We traveled down a road we had never been on.  It was amazing!  The fog was rolling in over the hills and into the valleys, every twist and every turn was a photographer’s dream.  As we finally reached the beach, the sun had just set.  I did not bring a tripod (since this was a last minute trip) but we got out anyway.  We sat on the cliff listening to the ocean roll the rocks below us.  It sounded like fireworks, but so much more beautiful with the swish of the ocean moving in and out.  I pulled out my camera and took these few shots.  It was dark, so the ISO on the camera was high, but I am very happy with these little last minute hand held images.  I like to push my boundaries and I did last night.  I am also moving into more of a dark and light phase in my life, where I like the darker images and how they affect the light.  I guess it is just where I am in life.
